The TKM58 is a specialised filter used in the Inuspheresis® process. It may help to remove certain proteins and protein-bound substances from your blood plasma. This filter uses membrane technology to separate components by size and type for consistent, controlled results.

Inuspheresis® is an extracorporeal (outside the body) procedure. As with any medical procedure involving intravenous access and blood filtration, side effects may occur.

Common or possible side effects include:

  • Itchy skin
  • Pain, bruising or bleeding at the IV puncture site
  • Dizziness or a temporary drop in blood pressure
  • Formation of a haematoma (localised blood collection) at the puncture site
  • Electrolyte imbalances

Less common but more serious risks may include:

  • Nerve irritation or damage at the IV puncture site
  • Allergic reaction to the anticoagulant (Heparin®) used during the procedure
  • Infection
  • Thrombosis (blood clot), which is minimised through the use of anticoagulation
  • Cardiac arrhythmia (rare)
  • Unintended removal of essential blood components
